Loerie WTW Upgrade

AfriCoast was appointed as specialist sub-consultant to CA du Toit (Eastern Cape) for the upgrade of the 105Ml/d Loerie WTW in phases.

Work undertaken by AfriCoast included:

• Process design
• Raw water supply pipe rehabilitation
• All new chemical and chlorine dosing systems
• All new lime dosing system comprising storage silo, day bins, wetting bowls and lime saturators
• Chemical storage
• Refurbishment of the clarifloculator settling tanks
• Refurbishment and upgrade of the rapid gravity filters, including replacement of the backwash pipework and pumps
• Upgrade of the sludge handling system
• New sand collection tank
• Cooling water pipework for the final water pumps
• Building maintenance, alterations and upgrades including new laboratory and plant control room
• New electrical intake substation building
• New motor control building for 3 x 2MW final water pump sets
• Road and site works
