BAIC Fire Ring Main

AfriCoast Consulting Engineers was the appointed civil engineering professional services provider for the planning, design and construction monitoring of the complete project responsible for building a firing main from the fire reservoirs all the way to the BAIC factory crossing the N2.
This contract provided for the construction of a fire ring main in Zones 1 and 2 of the Coega Industrial Development Zone. The initial driving force was the construction of a fire ring connection to the Beijing Automotive Industrial Company factory in Zone 1 of the IDZ, but the fire main connection will also serve other factory and warehouse facilities within Zones 1 and 2 of the IDZ.
Fee Value and Construction Cost:
Project Fee value: R0.9 Million, construction value R10.9 Million, excluding VAT.
Size and Capacity of the Works
Approximately 730m of 315 ND PVC-O pipelines, with associated pump station and storage tanks.
Nature of Works Performed:
The project entailed the design and implementation of the fire ring main connection to existing and future factory and warehouse facilities within the IDZ. The design of a high pressure rising main connected to a pump station and storage reservoirs was included, as well as construction monitoring.
